Michols Has Emotional Church Moment With Chosen Family — Emmy Left Out & Spirals Again

Michols Peña just gave us one of the most touching moments of Southern Hospitality Season 4 — and of course, Emmy still managed to make it about herself.

In Episode 10, while the group was enjoying a rare peaceful day in Punta Cana, Michols invited only his closest friends — Joe, Maddi, Lake, and TJ — to visit the historic church his family used to attend. It was an incredibly personal and meaningful trip for him.

Growing up Roman Catholic, Michols admitted he has struggled with feeling like he doesn’t belong since coming out. This visit was his way of reclaiming that space with people who fully accept and love him exactly as he is.

At the church, he opened up emotionally, and the group showered him with love, telling him how proud they are of him. For a moment, everything felt peaceful and healing.

But not everyone was happy.

Emmy was noticeably not invited. Instead of respecting that this was Michols’ personal moment, she immediately spiraled and made it about her.

She complained that Michols purposely excluded her to hurt her feelings, completely missing the point of why he only wanted positive energy around him for such a vulnerable experience.

This comes after weeks of Emmy exhausting the group. Just the night before, Michols had looked like he was about to cry during another confrontation with her over the Brad drama. Now, even during a beautiful cultural and spiritual moment, Emmy is centering herself again.

The contrast was striking: while Michols was having a genuine, heartwarming experience with his chosen family, Emmy was back in the villa turning his healing moment into her victim narrative.

It’s becoming clearer with every episode that Michols is done walking on eggshells around Emmy’s feelings. He even created a “plantain” safeword earlier in the trip just to avoid drama. Yet here we are.

This church visit gave Michols (and viewers) a much-needed breath of fresh air after a drama-heavy season. But with Emmy already spiraling over not being invited, it looks like the peace in Punta Cana is about to be very short-lived.

Will Emmy ever understand why she keeps getting left out, or will she continue burning bridges wherever she goes?

The calm before the storm just might be over.

Southern Hospitality airs Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock.
