Kyle Admits Life Is Better Without Amanda There — “That Is a Rude Awakening”
Kyle Cooke just said the quiet part out loud. In Summer House Season 10 Episode 12, with Amanda choosing to skip the weekend because she felt overwhelmed, Kyle openly admitted he was having more fun than he has in a long time — and the realization hit him hard.
“Here I am, for the first time in a long time, having fun… and it’s because my wife is nowhere to be seen,” Kyle confessed. “And that is a rude awakening. And it makes me realize just how F’d we really are.”
The raw moment came after Amanda had already told the girls that couples therapy feels like their “last shot” at saving their marriage. Now, Kyle’s admission suggests that even he knows how deep the problems run.
A Marriage That’s Been Crumbling All Season
This isn’t coming out of nowhere. The cracks have been showing for weeks.
In Episode 7, Amanda bluntly told Kyle, “I didn’t marry a DJ,” when he announced his career pivot. One week later in Episode 8, Kyle’s frustration exploded into one of the ugliest fights we’ve seen on the show — calling Amanda a “fcking dumbass btch” in front of the entire house.
West comforted Amanda, and Ciara suggested the couple should separate because they clearly “resent each other.”
In Episode 9 and 10, the girls held multiple interventions with Amanda, warning her about Kyle’s massive financial stress and urging her to consider time apart. Amanda has looked increasingly exhausted, saying she has no more chances left to give if therapy doesn’t work.
Now, with Amanda absent for the weekend, Kyle seemed lighter — and that lightness scared him. He realized how much his wife’s presence has been weighing on him, and the realization was brutal.
The House Feels the Shift
The rest of the group is noticing the growing distance. When Ciara FaceTimed Amanda to ask why she wasn’t coming, Amanda admitted the idea of being in the house felt overwhelming. Meanwhile, Kyle told the guys he felt like he could finally be himself without her there.
It’s a painful turning point for one of Summer House’s longest-running couples. After nearly a decade together on the show, Kyle and Amanda have gone from the fun, party-loving anchors of the house to two people who seem relieved when they’re apart.
The financial pressure (Kyle’s looming bankruptcy fears and lack of a prenup) has only made everything worse. The girls have repeatedly pointed out that Amanda could be left in a very difficult position if things fall apart.
As the season heads toward the reunion, this “rude awakening” moment from Kyle feels like one of the most honest confessions we’ve heard. The question now is whether couples therapy can actually fix what’s broken — or if both of them are already starting to accept that it might be too late.
Summer House airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo and streams the next day on Peacock. The fallout from this weekend apart is only going to get more intense.
