Ben’s Villain Era Continues: Late to Tip Meeting Again and Storms Out of HOD Dinner
Ben Robinson is rapidly becoming the most problematic crew member on Below Deck Down Under Season 4. In Episode 13 (“The Real and Fake Heads of Department”), the chef once again showed up late to the tip meeting — missing the beginning while the entire crew waited — earning yet another public dressing-down from Captain Jason and the dreaded disco ball helmet.
Despite the group receiving a strong $28,000 tip, Captain Jason didn’t hold back, criticizing Ben’s lack of respect and poor communication. Things got even worse at the Heads of Department dinner.
When Daisy, João, and the others called him out for his attitude and for dragging Ellie into his arguments with Daisy, Ben defensively stormed out, sarcastically telling the table, “You can pick up the tab. Send me the bill.”
This latest outburst is the continuation of a clear season-long villain arc. It started in Episode 4 with his distracting flirtation with Ellie that caused major service delays and frustrated guests. In Episode 5, his timing issues were so bad that Captain Jason had to step into the galley himself.
By Episode 10 and 12, Ben was repeatedly showing up late to tip meetings, and in Episode 11 and 13, his ego-fueled clashes with Daisy reached new levels as he refused to collaborate and insisted on staying “isolated in the kitchen.”
What makes Ben’s behavior particularly frustrating is that he continues to show little accountability.
Even after multiple warnings from Captain Jason and direct confrontations with Daisy, he still struggles with basic professionalism — showing up on time, communicating with the interior team, and respecting the chain of command.
With Captain Jason growing increasingly impatient and Daisy at her breaking point, Ben’s “villain era” is reaching a dangerous stage. His talent in the kitchen is undeniable, but his attitude and repeated disrespect may finally cost him his position on the yacht.
Is Ben salvageable, or has he become the biggest liability of Season 4?
