First Firing of the Season: Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher Axes Mike After He Takes His Attitude Too Far

In a decisive and long-overdue move, Below Deck Down Under Season 4 Episode 14 delivered its first major firing as Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher sent deck/stew hybrid Mike Durrant packing.

After repeated warnings, Mike’s constant disrespect finally caught up with him. When he openly defied Daisy’s direct order with a cocky “We’ll see about that,” she didn’t hesitate. Daisy told him to “get off the boat,” and Captain Jason fully supported her decision, calling Mike the “source of the toxicity” on board.

This firing marks a major turning point for the season.

Mike’s problematic behavior has been building for weeks. It started in Episode 4 when he pushed back against Daisy during the polos-and-pearls decor meeting. In Episode 5, he dropped his radio in the sea and played the blame game.

His ego continued growing through Episode 10 and 12 (refusing to accept Jenna’s authority) and reached new heights in Episode 13 when he deliberately stirred multiple pots during the crew day off. By Episode 14, his nonstop “HOD” taunting of Jenna and blatant insubordination toward Daisy made his exit almost inevitable.

In his final conversation with Captain Jason, Mike showed almost zero accountability, claiming, “Personally, I don’t think I did anything wrong.” Captain Jason made it clear that despite multiple chances and support from both Daisy and João, Mike continued treating the job like a joke.

With Mike gone, the mood on the yacht has already shifted. However, new drama is quickly filling the vacuum. Ellie’s jealousy toward Daisy and João is spiraling out of control, to the point where Daisy warned that if Ellie “keeps this sht up,” she will be “fcking fired next.”

Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher has emerged as one of the strongest and most no-nonsense leaders of the season. Her willingness to pull the trigger on Mike after enduring weeks of disrespect shows real growth and authority.

The question now is whether this firing will finally bring some peace to the interior — or if Ellie’s growing toxicity will be the next major problem Daisy has to solve.

Below Deck Down Under Season 4 airs Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo, streaming next day on Peacock.
