Amanda’s Year-Long Lease Bombshell Makes “Trial Separation” Look Permanent — Lindsay Is Shocked

What was supposed to be a temporary “trial separation” to fix their marriage is starting to feel like the beginning of the end for Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula.

In In The City Episode 4 (“Sparks Fly”), Amanda dropped a major reality check — she didn’t just find a new apartment… she signed a full year-long lease.

From “Let’s Date Again” to Full Year Apart

Remember their wedding anniversary conversation in Episode 1? Amanda suggested using the separation as a way to “date each other again.” Kyle called it wild but said he was open to it.

Fast forward through brutal couples therapy (where the therapist said they “hate each other”), hotel stays, and packing boxes — and now we’re here. Amanda has officially committed to a year in her own place.

Even Lindsay Is Confused

When Amanda broke the news to Lindsay while surrounded by moving boxes, her best friend looked genuinely stunned.

“This is a very big change,” Lindsay said. “I’m struggling to process what’s happening right now.”

Amanda’s response? “I haven’t really thought it through too much… I just feel like I’m in this weird limbo.”

The irony? Lindsay seemed more emotional about the permanence than Amanda herself.

The Emotional Burger Date: “My Biggest Fear Is Losing You”

Later, Amanda and Kyle sat down for a dinner date. Things got real fast.

“My biggest fear is losing you,” Amanda told him. “That’s scary, and that’s why I’m doing this.”

She wasn’t wearing her wedding ring. Kyle was. Still, both admitted they still love each other. Amanda reminded him she’s “a f*cking catch” and wants him to fight hard for their marriage during this time apart.

Reality Tea Take: Trial or Slow Breakup?

Saying “I love you” while locking in a year-long lease is sending the most confusing signals ever. Is Amanda keeping one foot in the door… or quietly preparing for life after Kyle?

With the West drama still lingering from the premiere, even Lindsay is side-eyeing how this is all playing out.

What do you think?

Is this “trial separation” actually over in everything but name? Will Kyle and Amanda find their way back, or is this the slow unraveling we’ve all been expecting?
