Big Brother Canada auditions 2027: how to apply, eligibility & everything we know
Big Brother Canada is officially coming back. Bell Media announced that the beloved reality competition series will return to Canadian television in spring 2027, airing on CTV and Crave — two years after Corus Entertainment cancelled it following Season 12.
New city, new network, new host, and soon, a brand new group of houseguests. If you’ve ever dreamed of competing, here’s what you need to know about BBCAN 2027 auditions and how the process works.
How to audition for Big Brother Canada 2027
The official casting details for Big Brother Canada Season 13 have not yet been announced. When applications do open, they will be posted on CTV.ca and Crave — bookmark both and watch for updates.
Based on how the past several seasons worked, here’s what the application process will likely involve:
- Complete an online application on the official Big Brother Canada casting website (previously bigbrothercanadacasting.ca), including a short bio of 70 words or fewer
- Submit a 3-minute audition video — this is mandatory; applications without a video are not reviewed
- Wait for a callback — casting teams typically reach out within 6–8 weeks of the application deadline if they want to move forward
- Virtual interview rounds — since Season 11, all casting has been done completely virtually with no in-person open calls
There is no cost to apply, and Big Brother Canada will never ask for financial or credit card information during the process.
Eligibility requirements
Based on past seasons, applicants for Big Brother Canada 2027 will need to meet the following criteria (exact requirements will be confirmed when official casting opens):
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Must be 19 years of age or older by a specified cutoff date
- Must be available to live in the Big Brother Canada house for approximately 75 days, in Montréal, on dates determined by the producer
- Must be in good physical and mental health
- Immediate family members of Bell Media, Entourage Productions, or Crave employees are not eligible
Meet the new host: Andrea Bain replaces Arisa Cox
Taking over hosting duties for Season 13 is Andrea Bain, best known as a co-host of CTV’s daytime talk show The Social. Bain has also hosted The Goods and HGTV’s Live Here, Buy This, and has worked as an entertainment journalist for both Global News and CTV News.
She announced the news on Instagram: “I am beyond thrilled to announce that Big Brother Canada is returning to CTV in Spring 2027, and I’ll be your hostess with the mostess as we welcome a brand new group of Houseguests into one of the most iconic reality TV franchises in the world.”
It’s a significant change for long-time fans. Arisa Cox hosted every one of the original 12 seasons and was a trailblazer as the first Black woman to host a major North American reality competition series.
Cox was vocal about her frustration when live feeds were cut in Season 11 — a decision many fans believe contributed to the show’s eventual cancellation.
What’s new: CTV, Crave, Montréal & live feeds
New network: BBCAN13 moves from Global TV (owned by Corus Entertainment) to CTV and Crave under Bell Media. Corus chose not to renew the series after Season 12 amid declining ratings and rising production costs.
Bell Media has now consolidated the entire Big Brother franchise in Canada — the US version of the show will also move from Global to CTV and Crave starting summer 2027.
New production: Season 13 will be produced by Entourage, the Montreal-based company behind the French-language series Big Brother Célébrités, replacing Insight Productions which handled Seasons 1–12.
New city: Filming moves from Toronto to Montréal.
Live feeds: Not yet confirmed. This is the question fans care most about. Live feeds — the 24/7 streams that let viewers watch every moment inside the house — were eliminated before Season 11. Many fans cite their removal as the reason the show lost its audience.
Bell Media has not yet announced whether feeds will return for 2027, but it is one of the most-watched decisions the new network will make.
3 tips to make your audition stand out
Season 10 winner Kevin Jacobs offered candid advice after his win that’s worth keeping in mind when applications open.
Be yourself, not a character. Casting teams have seen every type of TV villain and hero — they will see through a manufactured persona immediately. Jacobs said the approach that actually worked was stepping back and asking what genuinely made him different from other applicants.
Lead with what’s actually unusual about you. Your job, your background, a specific life experience — whatever makes your story distinct. You don’t need to be dramatic; you need to be specific.
Get to the point fast. With a 3-minute video limit, the first 30 seconds determine whether the casting team keeps watching. State who you are, what makes you interesting, and why you want to be on Big Brother Canada — in that order.
