“He Doesn’t Respect What I Want”: Kristen Vents to Zack About Luke as Their Postpartum Fight Reaches Breaking Point

In Season 3 Episode 5 on The Valley, Kristen Doute let her guard down in the most unexpectedly vulnerable setting — mid-spray tan and Brazilian wax — and the pain she’s been carrying poured out.

While getting “bald as a biscuit” with Zack and Brittany, Kristen’s voice cracked as she admitted Luke “doesn’t respect what I want.”

She’s exhausted by his constant complaints about hating L.A., despite their agreement to eventually move closer to family and give Kaia more space once she’s school-age. You could hear the heartbreak and frustration in every word.

This moment hits especially hard because it’s a direct continuation of the raw explosion during their pizza date night in Episode 4.

That’s when Kristen tearfully confessed she thought Luke was going to leave her during pregnancy.

She revealed how his complaints throughout her entire pregnancy left her terrified and unsupported — a fear that cut deep after she had just pushed a baby out of her body and was navigating postpartum in a city far from her support system.

The struggles have been building since the season premiere. In Episodes 1 and 2, Luke openly pushed for intimacy and “our old sex life,” while Kristen honestly admitted her head and body simply weren’t there.

Now, the resentment has flipped: Kristen feels constantly scrutinized and disrespected, while Luke — in a heavy confessional — admitted, “I’ve never been with a woman through her pregnancy, birth, postpartum. This is all new to me. And I know that this is a version of Kristen that hopefully won’t last.”

Zack, ever the protective friend, once again urged couples counseling, the same advice he gave earlier in the season.

But the emotional weight feels heavier now. Kristen is fighting to hold onto her identity as a new mom while fearing she’s losing her partner. Luke is struggling with isolation, distance from his own family, and a version of the woman he loves that he doesn’t fully recognize.

This isn’t just another reality TV couple fighting — it’s two people who clearly love each other drowning in the brutal, unglamorous reality of new parenthood under constant cameras and group pressure.

The love is still there, but so is the exhaustion, the miscommunication, and the growing fear that they might not make it through this chapter together.

With the San Diego trip on the horizon, Kristen and Luke’s relationship feels more fragile than ever.
