Ellie’s Jealous Meltdown Over João & Daisy: “He’s Disgusting… Lowlife Behavior”

Ellie Dubaich’s heartbreak turned into pure venom in Below Deck Down Under Season 4 Episode 13. Still reeling from João Franco’s brutal rejection the previous week, Ellie completely lost it when she witnessed João and Daisy Kelliher openly flirting in the crew mess.

In a fiery confessional, Ellie unleashed on João, calling him “disgusting,” “pathetic,” “manipulative,” a “trash can,” and “lowlife behavior.” The bitter rant revealed just how deeply the rejection has affected her.

This meltdown is the dramatic climax of Ellie’s season-long obsession with João. Her pursuit began during the chaotic crew night out in Episode 5, where she declared she wanted to “merge genetics” with him and asked the now-infamous “who amongst them squirts?” question.

In Episode 10, she aggressively made her move — offering him a massage, dancing with him, and kissing him — right after her awkward rank-card fight with Jenna. Even after João tried to gently clarify his feelings in Episode 11 and officially friend-zoned her in Episode 12, Ellie continued to believe they were “on the same page.”

Now, watching João finally pursue the woman he’s actually wanted all along (Daisy) has pushed Ellie into full jealous mode. Meanwhile, Daisy — who has been “hanging on by a thread” since the disasters of Episode 11 — is finally allowing herself to explore the connection with João, making Ellie’s humiliation even more painful.

Ellie’s rapid transformation from flirty and confident to bitter and spiteful has become one of the most entertaining character arcs of the season. Her inability to read romantic signals, combined with her tendency to let personal drama affect her work, continues to create tension both in the galley and within the interior team.
