Maury Povich Just Crashed RHOA to Prove Pinky Cole Is Still Vegan — But Meatgate Is Already Destroying Her Newbie Glow-Up

The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 is only four episodes deep, and the “new era” newcomers are already learning the oldest Housewives rule: the veterans will find a way to test you — even if it means questioning what you put in your mouth.

In Sunday night’s Episode 4, “Where’s The Beef…and The Budget,” Pinky Cole’s heartfelt community giveback event at the Pinky Cole Foundation turned into full-blown Meatgate chaos.

What started as a wholesome afternoon of toiletries, rent assistance, and community support spiraled into accusations, flashbacks, and — in the most RHOA moment possible — a surprise appearance from talk show legend Maury Povich wielding a lie detector test.

From Charity Bags to “You Eat Steak”

Pinky, who was introduced to the group by her new bestie Shamea in the Season 17 premiere at Porsha’s Mystic Island party, has been open about her struggles this season.

In Episode 3 we watched her break down in tears with her lawyer over mounting lawsuits and millions in debt. Episode 4 doubled down on that vulnerability while she tried to give back.

While handing out donations, the Meatgate rumor detonated. Pinky confronted Phaedra Parks directly:

“Phaedra around here telling people I eat meat now.”

Phaedra played coy, claiming she only mentioned that Pinky once owned a Jamaican restaurant that served meat before going fully vegan. Shamea, looking nervous, admitted in her confessional:

“I swear I thought the lady told me that Pinky eats meat.”

Then Kelli — Pinky’s fellow newbie and recent bankruptcy buddy — poured gasoline on the fire by claiming, “Because I see her eating a steak.”

Pinky, who sits on the board of PETA and has built her entire Slutty Vegan empire on plant-based living, was not having it. In a confessional she fired back:

“I’m on the board of PETA. I have all of these accolades for building a vegan business. You can’t walk around here saying that I eat meat when you know that that’s absolutely not the truth.”

Maury Povich to the Rescue

Never one to play small, Pinky pulled the ultimate reality TV power move. She revealed she had producer connections from her time on Maury and brought in the man himself for an on-the-spot lie detector test.

Maury, results in hand, delivered the verdict on camera:

“In my hand, I have the results of your vegan lie detector test. Pinky, when it comes to the accusation that you’ve been secretly eating meat, the lie detector test says that was a lie. Pinky, you’re still a vegan.”

The room erupted. Pinky was vindicated — but the damage to her reputation and her newbie shine was already done.

This Isn’t Pinky’s First Brush With Veteran Shade

This Meatgate mess feels especially pointed when you remember Episode 3’s already strange vegan drama. That’s when Phaedra was first caught making faces and allegedly spreading word that Pinky “eats dead people” — a wild escalation that felt like Phaedra testing the new girl’s boundaries.

Pinky arrived in Episode 1 as Shamea’s fresh addition to the group, full of energy at Porsha’s over-the-top Mystic Island dinner.

Just three episodes later, the same circle (Shamea included) is now questioning the very brand that made her famous. It’s a brutal reminder that on RHOA, even your diet is fair game.

Meanwhile, Pinky’s financial pressures continue mounting in the background. At the same charity event, she and Kelli bonded over their shared thoughts of filing for bankruptcy — Kelli citing her divorce debts and the recent closure of her second Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles location (the same grand opening Porsha shade-bombed with those “broken flowers from a broken person” in Episode 2).

Later, Pinky finally told her husband Derrick she’s staring down roughly $5 million in debt. His immediate offer to cover it was sweet, but Pinky’s refusal (“I got myself in this and I got to get myself out”) showed the kind of pride that makes her storyline so compelling.

The Newbie Glow-Up Is Cracking

Porsha, K. Michelle, Shamea, and the rest of the OGs got four full episodes of relative peace after the Mystic Island party before the knives came out for the new girls.

Now Pinky is public enemy number one over… bacon? It’s classic RHOA veteran hazing, but it’s happening faster and meaner than usual this season.

The bigger question lingering after Episode 4: Can Pinky’s friendship with Shamea survive Meatgate? And will Kelli’s messy alliance with both Pinky and Shamea blow up next?

One thing is clear — the “warm welcome” of Season 17 is officially over. The newbies have been blooded, and Maury Povich had to be called in to prove basic facts about their lives.

RHOA Season 17 continues Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo and streams next day on Peacock. The rumors are only getting started.
