Ozzy Osbourne’s Death: Jack Osbourne Opens Up About Dad’s Final Hours in Emotional New Interview – ‘It Was Like Any Other Day’

Heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne passed away on July 22, 2025, at age 76, just weeks after his emotional farewell concert with Black Sabbath. Now, his son Jack Osbourne is sharing heartbreaking new details about those last moments in a candid podcast appearance.

In a recent episode of Hate to Break It to Ya with Jamie Kennedy (aired March 2026), Jack revealed that the day Ozzy died felt surprisingly ordinary.

“It was a few days after I got back [from LA], and even the morning that he passed, it wasn’t anything dramatic at all,” Jack said. “It was like any other day.” He was in Los Angeles when the news came, while Ozzy was in England, surrounded by family.

Ozzy’s official cause of death, confirmed by his death certificate in August 2025, was a heart attack (out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and acute myocardial infarction), complicated by coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease (with autonomic dysfunction).

The Black Sabbath frontman had battled health issues for years, including a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2020, but performed his final show, “Back to the Beginning,” on July 5, 2025, in Birmingham.

The family released a statement at the time: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

Tributes poured in from across the music world, and Ozzy was honored in the 2026 Grammys In Memoriam segment with performances by Post Malone, Slash, Duff McKagan, and Andrew Watt of “War Pigs.”

Jack has since spoken openly about grief, sharing in family podcasts and interviews how the loss hit hard but how they’re honoring Ozzy’s legacy through memories and music. “Never realized how horrible grief is,” the family reflected in a November 2025 episode.

Fans continue to mourn the “Prince of Darkness,” whose influence on heavy metal and pop culture remains unmatched. Rest in peace, Ozzy—your music lives on forever.
