TJ and Michols Finally Went There: The Steamy Fireside Hookup That Has Southern Hospitality Fans Screaming

The Edisto River tubing trip on Southern Hospitality Season 4 just went from flirty slow-burn to full-on fire — and TJ Dinch and Michols Peña are at the center of it.

After building undeniable chemistry in Episode 5 (that pedicure hangout where they basically described each other as their ideal types, plus the revealed hour-long makeout at Folly Beach), TJ and Michols took things to the next level in Episode 6 — and the entire group heard it.

The night started innocently enough in “slumber party mode” after dinner. Mia and Justin were flirting by the fireside, with Justin trying to convince Mia why he’d be a great casual “hang.” Ever the playful instigators, TJ and Michols threw down a dare: “We’ll kiss if you two kiss.”

Both pairs ended up making out. Mia and Justin shared what Justin later called “electrical type sh*t,” and the group inside the cabin cheered them on as they went for round two.

But the real show happened when TJ and Michols retired to their shared cabin room (yes, the same room assignment that already had fans raising eyebrows from the hoe-down trip planning). With the lights off, things quickly escalated.

TJ playfully asked if something he felt was Michols’ “anteater” — and Michols reassured him with the now-iconic line: “Don’t be scared… my anteater is nice.”

The sounds that followed left zero doubt about what was happening. The rest of the crew knew exactly what was going down, and by morning, the entire group was buzzing.

The morning after was suitably awkward and hungover. Justin and Mia openly admitted they made out, while Molly nursed a brutal hangover. Meanwhile, TJ and Michols stayed relatively quiet about their night — though the cheeky energy between them was impossible to miss.

This hookup didn’t come out of nowhere. In Episode 5, their connection had already moved beyond friendship: TJ admitted he hadn’t had a good date in a while, Michols showed off his Raya thirst traps, and the two kept finishing each other’s sentences when describing their perfect partner.

Add in the Folly Beach makeout session (complete with timestamped proof from Julia) and the fact that Michols is technically TJ’s boss at Republic, and the tension has been simmering for weeks.

While the episode also featured heavier moments — including Lake’s sincere apology and reconciliation with Michols after breaking his trust, and Brad’s decision to end his friendship with Emmy over her inconsistent apologies — the TJ/Michols hookup provided much-needed chaotic, light-hearted energy.

Now the big questions heading into the rest of Season 4:

  • Was this a one-time drunken hookup fueled by the river trip vibes?
  • Or are TJ and Michols actually catching real feelings?
  • And how will this affect their dynamic at Republic, especially with Michols as assistant general manager?

With Joe’s big emo 30th birthday concert coming up and the group returning to work at Republic, fans are eager to see whether TJ and Michols will address what happened… or just keep the flirty chaos going.

The “anteater” line alone is already destined to become one of the most quoted moments of the season.

Are you shipping TJchols hard after this, or do you think it should stay a fun one-night thing? Tell us in the comments!
