Jennifer Lawrence Faces Backlash After “Unkind” Remarks About Real Housewives Star Lisa Barlow
Jennifer Lawrence’s love for The Real Housewives franchise might have just landed her in hot water. The Oscar-winning actress — a self-proclaimed superfan of the Bravo universe — is now drawing criticism after mocking The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Lisa Barlow during a recent podcast appearance.
Appearing on the Nov. 5 episode of the Las Culturistas podcast, Lawrence chatted with hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers about the show’s latest season.
But when Barlow’s name came up, things took a turn. Lawrence appeared to mimic the reality star’s voice while referencing her use of facial threads — a cosmetic procedure involving dissolvable sutures that lift and tighten the skin.
“I won’t get [facial] threads, that’s good to know,” Lawrence quipped, seemingly imitating Barlow’s tone. The remark didn’t sit well with fans, many of whom saw it as unnecessary mockery.
Once the clip circulated online, Reddit users quickly called out the actress for what they described as “mean-spirited” behavior. “This is massively punching down — why is an Oscar winner making fun of a reality TV star’s cosmetic work?” one user wrote.
Another added, “Someone who debuted a whole new face and then denied it has no business talking about another person’s choices.”
Lawrence doubled down later in the episode, saying Barlow was “really bothering” her this season and acting “unhinged.”
The criticism was especially pointed given Lawrence’s own openness about cosmetic procedures. Just last month, in an interview with The New Yorker, she revealed she’s had Botox and is considering breast augmentation.
Fans were quick to point out the irony, suggesting that mocking another woman’s appearance contradicted Lawrence’s image as a relatable and body-positive star.
So far, Lisa Barlow has remained silent about the comments — but fans haven’t. Online discussions continue to question why an A-list celebrity would publicly criticize a reality TV personality over their looks, reigniting a broader debate about celebrity privilege and the fine line between fandom and ridicule.
New episodes of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City air Tuesdays on Bravo at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.
