‘RHOBH’ Star Sutton Stracke Reveals Son Philip Plans to Enter Priesthood After College: “I Cried”

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Sutton Stracke has shared an emotional update about her son Philip’s future: he plans to pursue the priesthood after graduating from college.

Philip recently graduated from The Citadel, the prestigious military college in South Carolina. During a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy, Sutton revealed that her son will be entering seminary school with the intention of becoming a priest.

“I cried when he told me. It was such a big decision,” Sutton said. “You’re in seminary school for six years, and then you become a deacon of the church, and then you join the priesthood.”

The RHOBH star noted that Philip is approaching the major life commitment with a level-headed and positive mindset.

“He’s like, ‘If it doesn’t work out, I can leave,’ which I thought was a good positive outlook on it because you learn a lot in seminary,” she added.

From Military School to Seminary

This latest revelation marks a significant evolution in Philip’s path. During a 2022 episode of RHOBH, Sutton shared that her son initially wanted to join the army after growing up in a comfortable environment.

“You know, he lives a nice life,” she recalled at the time. “I said, ‘Oh, well, I’ll make you uncomfortable then.’ I sent him to Georgia when it was gonna be 105 degrees with 100 percent humidity. I made him get a job. He had to be there at 5:30 in the morning to deliver vending machine Cokes and stuff.”

A month later, when Sutton picked him up, Philip had changed his mind and decided he wanted to go to college. He ultimately enrolled at The Citadel. Sutton said at the time that she felt both she and her son had “won” with that decision.

Now, Philip’s calling has taken a spiritual turn.
