Eileen Davidson Says RHOBH Producers Planned “What Should Happen”
Former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Eileen Davidson is pulling back the curtain on how the Housewives machine actually works — and her comments are sure to reignite the never-ending debate over how “real” reality TV really is.
During an appearance on the Soapie podcast with Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart, Eileen reflected on her time on RHOBH and admitted producers often entered filming events with a specific goal in mind.
“They give you an idea what they want you to accomplish in an evening,” Eileen explained.
While she stopped short of calling the show scripted, Eileen suggested production definitely helped shape the direction of scenes.
“This one definitely was… they give you an idea what they want you to accomplish in an evening and, you know, ‘Well, this should happen,’” she said, before clarifying that producers weren’t directly scripting dialogue at the time she was on the show.
Her comments come as Bravo fans continue debating how heavily produced Housewives franchises really are behind the scenes.
Over the years, multiple Bravolebrities have insisted the shows are unscripted while also acknowledging that producers help steer conversations, group dynamics, and conflicts.
Eileen also admitted she often felt blindsided while filming — especially during some of RHOBH’s most explosive moments.
“I had no idea I was going to get wine in my face,” she recalled, referencing one of the franchise’s most infamous confrontations. “I would have handled everything much better if these things hadn’t happened the way they did.”
The soap legend described the entire RHOBH experience as “terrifying all the time,” though she also called it “fun and crazy” and said she doesn’t regret joining the series.
Still, Eileen made it clear reality television came with emotional challenges she never fully expected.
“The one thing I learned… I learned so many things about human nature,” she said. “What people will do to be famous. It’s shocking.”
Eileen starred on RHOBH from Seasons 5 through 7 and became a fan favorite thanks to her calmer demeanor amid the show’s chaos.
During the podcast, she also revealed Bravo approached her about potentially returning in recent years, though she ultimately decided the emotional toll “wasn’t worth it.”
