Discord Addams’ Clueless Cowboy Flop: Why It Got Her Eliminated on Drag Race S18 Ep 12
In RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 18 Episode 12, titled “Mammas, Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Drag Queens,” the queens faced a classic makeover challenge with a twist: transforming six queer cowboys into their drag family members.
The episode delivered high drama, heartfelt moments, and one of the most baffling runway flops in recent memory—Discord Addams’ Clueless-inspired pairing that left judges stunned and ultimately sent her home.
After winning the mini-challenge blow-up horse race, Discord earned the power to pick her cowboy partner (Colton, whom she saw as a perfect facial match) and assign the rest.
She opted for a Clueless theme, channeling the iconic 1995 teen comedy’s plaid skirts, yellow plaid sets, and Cher Horowitz vibes for herself and her “drag sister” Harmony Addams.
RuPaul visited the werkroom and issued an immediate warning: the concept was entering “dangerous territory” because makeover challenges demand unmistakable family resemblance—shared silhouettes, makeup, hair, and energy.
A movie reference alone wouldn’t cut it if the duo didn’t convincingly look related.
On the runway, the pair arrived with a cutesy act, but the execution fell flat. Discord and Harmony sported coordinated plaid outfits and blonde wigs, yet the judges saw zero sibling energy.
Michelle Visage and Danielle Pinnock questioned the connection, while Law Roach delivered the harshest blow: “It just didn’t make any f–king sense and I hated it.” The lack of strong visual ties—despite the pop-culture homage—made the look feel disjointed rather than familial.
Compared to winning pair Myki Meeks and Morgan (Jersey glam animal print that screamed cohesion) or Darlene Mitchell’s “two happy hookers” storytelling moment with Bonnie, Discord’s entry lacked the polish and resemblance needed to survive.
The critiques sealed her fate. Discord landed in the bottom two alongside Nini Coco, facing a lip sync to Ariana Grande’s “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).”
While both queens struggled in the emotional ballad territory, Discord’s unfamiliarity with the lyrics proved fatal. RuPaul sent her packing, ending her run in the competition.
Discord’s elimination highlights a recurring truth in makeover challenges: nostalgia and clever themes are fun, but they crumble without rock-solid resemblance and execution.
Clueless is drag gold—plenty of queens have slayed Cher looks—but pairing it with a cowboy canvas required more than matching outfits; it needed believable drag-sister magic that never materialized.
Fans are still buzzing over what went wrong: Was it the styling choices? The mismatched energy? Or simply Ru’s premonition coming true?
As Season 18 heads toward its finale, this flop serves as a cautionary tale: in the werkroom, even the most iconic references can lead straight to sashay away if they don’t deliver family realness.
