Brian Austin Green Recalls Being Fired from ‘My Two Dads’: The Only Time It Happened in His 40-Year Career
Brian Austin Green has shared a candid story from his early acting days, revealing the one and only time he was ever fired from a job.
The 52-year-old actor, best known for his long-running role as David Silver on Beverly Hills, 90210, opened up about his brief stint on the 1980s NBC sitcom My Two Dads during a recent appearance on the Pod Meets World podcast, hosted by former Boy Meets World stars Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel, and Will Friedle (aired March 16, 2026).
Green explained that he appeared in just one episode of the show, which ran from 1987 to 1990 and starred Paul Reiser, Greg Evigan, and Staci Keanan. “I was on one episode of My Two Dads and it was the only time that I was ever fired,” Green recalled.
He described rehearsing the episode under the direction of executive producer Michael Jacobs (who later created Boy Meets World), noting that Jacobs was “very specific” with line readings and timing.
During a run-through, Green struggled with the comedic delivery and pacing of his scene. After lunch, he was informed that he was being let go.
“We had been rehearsing, and then we did a run-through… I went to lunch and they were like, ‘Yeah, you’re out,'” he shared. At the time, the young actor was primarily worried about whether he’d still get paid for the day—a practical concern amid the sting of rejection.
Looking back, Green now sees the incident in a different light, appreciating that it wasn’t a reflection of his talent but rather a mismatch in creative vision or style.
The firing came early in his career, long before his breakout success on 90210 (1990–2000), and he emphasized it remains the sole dismissal in over four decades of acting.
The anecdote sparked nostalgia and laughs on the podcast, tying into discussions about early Hollywood experiences and the unpredictability of the industry.
Green has since built a diverse resume, including roles in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Anger Management, and recent projects, proving that one setback didn’t define his path.
Fans have reacted warmly online, praising Green’s humility and resilience. As he continues to reflect on his journey—from teen roles to fatherhood and beyond—this story serves as a reminder that even stars face tough breaks early on.
My Two Dads episodes, including the one Green filmed, are available for streaming on various platforms, offering a fun look back at his brief but memorable appearance in the sitcom world.
