MAFS Stars Bec and Rachel Mend Friendship After ‘Finger-Bang-Gate’ Drama

Nearly seven months after the explosive Couples’ Retreat on Married at First Sight Australia 2026, former castmates Bec Zacharia and Rachel Gilmore have confirmed their close bond is fully restored following the infamous “finger-bang-gate” incident.

The feud erupted during the retreat in Kiama when Bec made a crude joke about Rachel and her groom Steven’s intimate milestone, referring to it as a “finger-bang” in front of the group.

The comment led to public humiliation, heated confrontations, and days of tension that played out dramatically on screen, leaving Rachel deeply hurt and the pair at loggerheads.

However, the women began patching things up by the season’s final Dinner Party, and time has healed the rift completely.

In a recent interview with Chattr, Bec shared that she and Rachel now speak three to four times a day. “She was here in Adelaide with me for my birthday. I’ve stayed with her in Melbourne. She is the most amazing soul, and we love each other. We support each other,” Bec said.

The pair had anticipated the backlash when the episodes aired and held in-depth conversations to prepare. “We knew that this was coming… We’re just really happy that it’s coming to an end now, but yeah, she’s my best friend, and I’m hers,” Bec added.

Bec acknowledged the emotional toll on Rachel, who has struggled reliving the drama and facing divided viewer opinions—some urging her to “get over it,” while others sympathized deeply. “It hurt her to the core… It’s got to be hard to see people saying to her, get over it,” Bec explained.

Reflecting on her own actions, Bec expressed genuine regret: “I, of course, regret what I said… It was said with the intention to be funny. It’s such a retro term… I have huge regrets for saying it, because I never intended to hurt my darling Rachel.”
