Industry Renewed for Final Season as HBO Ratings Soar

Industry’s Ratings Rocket and Final Season Renewal: HBO’s ‘Little Engine That Could’ Heads Toward Epic Close

HBO has officially greenlit a fifth and final season of Industry, bringing the high-stakes finance drama to a planned conclusion after four increasingly acclaimed runs.

The renewal announcement, made alongside glowing praise from HBO chairman and CEO Casey Bloys, underscores the series’ remarkable trajectory from modest sleeper to one of the network’s standout success stories.

In a recent Deadline interview, Bloys described Industry as “a great success story,” highlighting its consistent year-over-year viewership growth on a relatively modest budget.

Season 4 averaged 1.7 million viewers per episode—a 30% jump from Season 3—proving the show has built a fiercely loyal audience without the massive production costs of prestige tentpoles.

“It’s easy to say yes to,” Bloys said, crediting creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay for delivering a bold, uncompromising series that keeps expanding its reach.

The executive also spotlighted the show’s star-making power. “Seeing Myha’la and Marisa [Abela] and their profiles rise… has been really exciting to see,” he noted.

Myha’la (Harper Stern) and Marisa Abela (Yasmin Kara-Hanani) have become breakout talents, with Abela’s recent high-profile roles further amplifying the series’ cultural footprint.

Bloys praised Down and Kay for maturing what began as a raw idea into “a bold and uncompromising drama series passionately appreciated by both critics and its fiercely loyal fanbase.”

Jane Tranter, executive producer since the show’s inception, echoed the sentiment in her own statement: “Mickey and Konrad have magnificently matured a raw, brilliant idea… Watching Mickey and Konrad and our extraordinary and beloved cast grow over the seasons continues to be a huge privilege.”

She called Industry “the little engine that could,” now taking its place among HBO’s most distinguished long-running dramas.

Down and Kay, in their renewal statement, teased plans to end the series “on an unparalleled high.” The final season will reunite them with Tranter and the core team, promising a conclusive payoff to the arcs that have defined the show—Harper’s relentless ambition, Yasmin’s darkening path, and the moral wreckage left in their wake.

While HBO has not set a premiere date, the established two-year gap between seasons suggests Season 5 could arrive in late 2027 or early 2028. Fans are already speculating on returns: Ken Leung’s Eric Tao exited dramatically mid-Season 4, Kit Harington’s Henry Muck faced arrest, and earlier cast members like Harry Lawtey (Robert) and David Jonsson (Gus) could reappear for callbacks or closure.

Industry has always thrived on unpredictability—nothing is off the table. As it gears up for its final chapter, the show’s journey from under-the-radar gem to HBO staple stands as proof that sharp writing, fearless storytelling, and rising stars can still drive massive success in the streaming era.
